The renowned children's opera company, W11 Opera, has commissioned its next work from Bernard Hughes. With a libretto by William Radice based a Bengali story by Upendrakishore Raychaudhuri, Chincha-Chancha Cooroo is an energetic new piece of music theatre, bringing to life the sights, sounds and rhythms of Indian village life.

Founded in 1971, W11 Opera has commissioned and produced 27 new music theatre works for young casts. The company's vibrant community development programme has introduced opera to many people, including the elderly and those with special needs, and most particularly to teenagers and children from different backgrounds.

Chincha-Chancha Cooroo will receive it's first semi-staged performance at St James's Norlands Church, St James's Gardens, London W11, on Saturday 2 December at 6.30 p.m. Tickets cost £7.

The fully-staged premiere will take place at the Britten Theatre, Royal College of Music, Prince Consort Road, London SW7, on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December, at 3.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. Booking opens on 2 October.
