WWM’s educational mission sees an exciting expansion this month as we launch a new music school in Maidenhead town centre.
Based on the model of our first teaching centre located in West London, MSM offers individual lessons for a wider range of instruments and styles, along with classes in theory, musicianship, and composition, in addition to ensemble coaching. Being part of WWM, however, offers students a comprehensive range of people, facilities, and opportunities, and creates a more professional learning environment.
‘The opening of Maidenhead School of Music is an exciting and challenging new venture,’ says WWM Director Matthew Mills, who has been appointed Principal. ‘Although we’re entering into a crowded marketplace, our greatest advantage is the tutorial staff we have assembled. I’ve been eager not only to appoint excellent teachers, but also those who are skilled professional performers. They will have a wider range of skills and experiences to impart to students, and I believe it’s important that even young learners get the best possible start - too often, promising musicians encounter difficulties later on because of bad habits that haven’t been picked up at beginner level.’
Many MSM tutors will also develop original materials to expand WWM’s educational catalogue, another example of WWM’s ‘joined-up’ approach to musical training.
