We are delighted to announce that Laurence Armstrong Hughes has signed an exclusive contract with Wild Woods Music.
Laurence studied Music and Theatre and Composition at the Universities of York and London with Wilfred Mellers and Nicola LeFanu. Written in a style that has frequently been described as 'new lyricism', his output covers a range of genres, from symphonic works, through choral music and songs, to light music. His music has been performed in numerous venues in the UK, including the Purcell Room, St. John's Smith Square, St. George's Chapel, Windsor, Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, the Royal Northern College of Music, and St Cecilia's Hall, Edinburgh, as well as in venues in the USA, Russia, Holland and Romania.
Laurence's works have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and the World Service by the BBC Singers and the New London Children's Choir. He has composed music for several BBC2 TV films. At various times in his career he has also been a freelance broadcaster and reviewer, and has conducted composition workshops and competitions.
Between September and December 2008, WWM will release a variety of works by Laurence Armstrong Hughes, including a number of Christmas carols for choir, and two Christmas medleys for brass quintet.
